  •  Final Project The final project for this course is a podcast. You will identify an issue within higher education that you wish to understand from the prospective of actors (e.g. teachers, students, staff, professors, administrators) within the system of education. This assignment will allow you to gain field experience as well as contribute to public sociology. You will need to develop a plan for completing components of the podcast assignment. There are various deadlines built in the course to assist you with this. You should submit all your assignments via Canvas. Please include your last name in all corresponding document titles. Podcast Proposal (150 Points) The proposal should include the topic and name of your podcast. You will also include a short description of the theme, a detailed overview of the significance of your topic to understanding the sociology of higher education, annotated bibliography of a minimum of 7-8 scholarly sources that will help inform your understanding of your topic, and draft of your podcast script. This document should be 3-5 pages long (excluding your annotated bibliography), double spaced, 12point Times New Roman font with 1” margins and saved in .pdf format. You will receive feedback on your proposal. This assignment is due on Canvas September 21, 2021 by 10 AM. What Will You Be Graded On?  25 pts: Organization. Does your podcast proposal include the necessary components including: a) the topic and name of your segment of our class podcast, b) short description of the theme, c) a detailed overview of the significance of your topic to understanding the sociology of higher education, d) annotated bibliography of a minimum of 7-8 scholarly sources and e) a draft of your podcast question guides? Do you upload your document on Canvas on September 21, 2021 by 10 AM?  25 pts: Justification. Do you provide a description of the podcast topic and/or theme? Do you justify why you have selected this topic and its relevance to our higher education course? Do you explain the various components of your podcast (e.g. who are your hosts, who are your guests)? Do you tell why your guests were selected and how they will contribute to your podcast?  25 pts: Intellectual Merit. Do you engage with the issue critically and thoughtfully? Do you argue why this issue is of importance? Do you connect the current issue to its sociohistorical past? Do you relate your topic to higher education issues more broadly?  25 pts: Support. Do you appropriately identify and incorporate empirical and theoretical support relevant to your podcast topic? Do you prepare an annotated bibliography with 78 sources? Do you discuss and integrate your sources to support your understanding of your topic? Do you communicate why your sources are useful to your project formation?
